Permanent Mold Casting Housing for Chemical Processing Industry
Our customer in the chemical processing industry employed the services of GPi Metal Products to improve production quality and manufacturing throughput for this high volume part combination. GPi employed proven low cost manufacturing techniques along with Quality Engineering principles to meet the customer’s quality and cost objectives.
Low pressure permanent mold casting equipment and CNC machining was utilized, as well as tapping, reaming, turning, and drilling techniques. Heat treating and anodizing surface treating systems were employed to increase corrosion resistance. The casting is 6”x 5”x 4”, composed of 356-T6 aluminum with a 125 RMS/anodized cast finish.
Dimensional tolerances of + 0.001”/ -0.000” during machining is achieved. In process quality control checks at each stage of processing ensures broad based adherence to customer requirements. Production output of 5,000 – 10,000 units per year is backed by a long-term agreement with the customer to ensure smooth product flow and availability.
